The company has evolved from its early origin to become a world leader in process innovation, construction application, and design of lightweight aggregate concrete. Specified for the original deck of the new Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Annapolis in 1952, the use of lightweight aggregate concrete saved the equivalent weight of a three mile long empty freight train sitting on the bridge.
